National Geosciences Information Centre (NGIC) is a centre under the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) established purposely to serve as a one-stop repository and dissemination centre of geosciences information. It took off in January, 2011. NGIC is also charged with the responsibility of collaborating with various institutions and organizations that are geosciences inclined.
NGIC is a data centre charged with the responsibility of documenting, archiving and disseminating geosciences information in the country to potential investors, a broad spectrum of researchers and the general public.
- The centre is to encourage the deposit of datasets by other organization.
- NGIC is expected to create awareness on the availability of this information and encourage its usage.
WHAT WE DO
NGIC is solely in charge of the Nigeria Mineral and Corelog Databases; it also manages the Aerial Photograph Centre, Rocks & Minerals in the Museum, Map and Bulletin Depots in the NGSA office at Kaduna.
